Our names are Angie Lewis and Carrie Woodward, and were the founders of Sweet Valley Ave…
We help and empower women to start their own business based upon their love and passion for interior design.
But what a lot of people don't know is I (Angie) was in a similar spot a couple years ago...
One day my husband tells me he’s leaving.
I was a single mother of 4, and pregnant with my 5th. I was left with no job or money and a situation that felt impossible.
How do I provide for my kids emotionally and monetarily?
I took multiple jobs, and we were barely making enough to get by.
The hardest part was the feeling of not being there for my kids.
I knew that it was time to figure out a different solution.
I looked to my past experiences in life to try and figure out how I could provide.
I decided to explore the experience I had while working for a large Apparel Manufacturing company before I had kids. I really enjoyed the ability and freedom I had to create and design.
I knew I couldn't go into apparel manufacturing because I would still be away from my kids. But I felt hope in exploring my passions.
In this struggle, I realized for the first time, my potential to become an interior designer.
From the time I was very little, I loved color and creating beautiful spaces. For some reason, I never pursued formal learning in that direction.
I knew working for myself would enable me to spend more time with my kids.
I decided to take the leap of faith and pursue my passion to create and design as an interior designer.
Today, I’m able to…. Feel a freedom and peace that I’ve never felt before! I am free of financial constraints. I am able to spend more time with my family. I am doing something that I love. I live in a beautiful home and am able to vacation with my family.
So as I was telling Carrie this story we had this idea...
